When I was around 30 years old, I suffered from very long-term serious depression. Without a very specific reason, maybe due to accumulating life pressure with three young kids, depression clapped me just like a storm. It was the darkest time of my life. Every time when I look back, I don't want to go through that period ever again.
 
大概三十歲的時(shí)候,我患上了較為嚴重的抑郁癥,很長(cháng)一段時(shí)間深陷其中。其實(shí)沒(méi)有什么特別的原因,可能是因為要撫養三個(gè)年幼的孩子,生活壓力越來(lái)越大,抑郁癥就像突如其來(lái)的暴風(fēng)雨一樣一下子擊倒了我。那是我人生中最黑暗的一段時(shí)光。每當我回首往事,我都不愿再次經(jīng)受那時(shí)的痛苦。
 
Then I decided to change my life. I started to exercise regularly, eat healthy and have a better relationship with my neighbors. Gradually things are getting much better and I enjoy every single day of my life now. It doesn't mean that the depression has gone away for good. I still can feel that it comes back to me once a while, but now I know how to manage it.
 
可我不甘心這樣被擊倒,我決心要改變自己的生活。我開(kāi)始定期地鍛煉身體,堅持健康飲食,與周?chē)従痈愫藐P(guān)系。漸漸地情況有了很大的好轉,現在我終于能夠享受每一天的生活。但這并不意味著(zhù)抑郁癥已然一去不復返,我仍然能夠察覺(jué)到隔段時(shí)間它又會(huì )回來(lái),但是現在我已知道如何去應對。
 
Before my depression, I didn't take it seriously as a big deal. I just thought "Put on a big smile and get your work done". However, I learned from my personal experience that it isn't that easy, as you can't say "Get ride of the flu and get healthy" to a person who has flu. Just like flu virus, depression is something that you can't control and it comes and goes. Now I can understand depressed patients in their own shoes without any prejustice or judgement. I will tell them "Just change your activity. Get up and do something else. Anything could help".
